Trolls: Original Motion Moving-picture show Soundtrack is the soundtrack anthology to the 2016 DreamWorks Animation picture show Trolls, released on September 23, 2016 past RCA Records. The soundtrack is produced primarily by singer Justin Timberlake, Max Martin, and Shellback. It features work from Timberlake himself, along with Anna Kendrick, Ron Funches, Zooey Deschanel and Gwen Stefani, who all voice characters in the film, equally well as Earth, Wind & Burn down and Ariana Grande.[one] The anthology was certified Platinum in Australia and Double Platinum in the United States. The song "Can't Terminate the Feeling!" was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Grammy Award.
Groundwork [edit]
Subsequently being announced as the voice to the lead character in the musical comedy Trolls reverse Anna Kendrick,[2] Billboard reported that Justin Timberlake also signed on to write and perform original music for the motion-picture show.[3] Timberlake said in an interview:
It kind of all happened at the same time. I've been friends with the Katzenbergs for years, and Jeffrey had always spoken to me virtually doing a DreamWorks Animation moving-picture show. I believe his line was, "Nosotros can't permit Elton have all the fun," and I've e'er said, "If the correct thing comes upward, permit's practise information technology." … The directors brought me to the DreamWorks campus and pitched me the movie and the character. And when I came out of the room Jeffrey was at that place, and he said, "And there's this other thing you lot could do…"[4]
By the time Timberlake joined the project, at that place was still some original music needed to be written for the film. Timberlake planned to encompass the disco genre among the variety of popular songs present in the moving-picture show.[iv] For the soundtrack album, Earth, Current of air & Fire re-recorded "September" with Timberlake and Kendrick.[5]
Commercial performance [edit]
The soundtrack peaked at number one on the ARIA Charts,[vi] 3 on the US Billboard 200 album chart, four on the New Zealand Albums Chart,[7] and 4 on the Uk Albums Chart.[8] Information technology received Platinum certifications by the Recording Manufacture Association of America[ix] and the Australian Recording Industry Association,[ten] and a Gold certification past the British Phonographic Industry.[eleven] In the United States, it has sold 573,000 copies by April 2017,[12] and was the year's 10th highest selling anthology in the state with 522,000 sold throughout 2017.[13]
The lead single, "Can't Terminate the Feeling!" performed past Justin Timberlake, was released on May half dozen, 2016, and reached number ane on the official charts of 17 countries, including the US Billboard Hot 100.[14]
In 2017, Trolls was ranked as the 11th nigh popular album of the year on the Billboard 200.[15]
Two years afterward the soundtrack was released, it was ranked as the 80th virtually popular album of 2018 on the Billboard 200.[16]
